A Verizon Hotspot has appeared

I’ve started a case with HUSA engineering as Verizon wasn’t able to active it, and Bluelink shows that a Hotspot is available but we can’t figure out how to provision it. Normally this is done at purchase, but obviously it was active but buried in the engineering menu and suddenly surfaced with the May update (granted the 22 file on a 23 Limited)

OK two questions:
  1. You installed the 22 update on the 23 here in the US. Have you noticed any issues? Are all the changes others have noticed also present after the update?
  2. Is this hotspot something that the car was supposed to have? I've never heard of it before, but I'm intrigued (and hopeful). I wonder if it's only for Limiteds, or Bluelink subscribers, or not supposed to be there at all.
No problems, it installed just fine — but it seems the updated charger data isn’t displaying, which is strange

as for the Hotspot, apparently there was a setting to activate it deep in the engineering menu. The update activated it, it also shows up Bluelink, but I can’t subscribe. I run the IEMI number thru the Verizon Connected Car search and it’s on the network, just not provisioned for use.
Interesting. Well, keep us posted if you work it out!
My guess is that this is a 2023 only feature, and they’ve pulled the update because 2023 owners really weren’t meant to be able to install the 2022 update just yet. The 2023 palisade link someone posted elsewhere seems to confirm this is only select 2023 Hyundai models that are eligible.

It’s a very interesting situation- even more interesting since I have this in Bluelink

I think the reason they delayed official access to the update for 2023 owners is that they were planning on rolling this out with the update, and something on their servers isn't quite ready yet. Maybe they're literally just waiting on something on Verizon's end to allow the IMEI's to be provisionable. A little jealous as a '22 model owner.

Very possible
I spoke with both Verizon and Bluelink about this. Verizon stated that the process starts with the activation of the free 3 month trial to the service which is activated at the dealer. They said that once the trial ends, you can subscribe for $20/mo as a connected car on your existing plan or on a prepaid plan. I spoke with Bluelink who said the service is currently only available on the 2023 Palisade and it will soon roll out on the 23 Ioniq 5 but that there is no timeline.

Correct. I spoke with Hyundai, Bluelink and Verizon. I’ve submitted a ticket to engineering but I don’t have a response yet
They opened a case for me as well but the feature will only become active when they decide to roll out the added service. According to the manager I spoke with, after several escalations, they have no "customer facing timeline" that can be shared. So the case is useless.
They closed my ticket with the following response...

"Thank you for contacting Hyundai Customer Care regarding wi-fi hotspot in your 2023 Ioniq 5.

You have been provided the most up to date information regarding wi-fi hotspot for your 2023 Ioniq 5. There currently is no information regarding when or if the feature will be available. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. "

Cheapskate question: Are you having to pay for a new line of service for this, or is it included in Bluelink?

Presumably it’s the standard 3mo or 3g free, then $20/mo

Here’s what I see when I go to the Subscriptions section of the Bluelink app.

And clicking on Manage at Verizon.com takes me to:

Looks like I would need to add a line of service, but that doesn’t really surprise me. No such thing as free lunch and all that.

Really cool that this was added to the car!

Ok, so you’re being redirected. Based on my experience with VW that actually just gets handled via Bluelink. Mine activated about a week after I initially turned it on. Perhaps it takes that long to provision. That’s actually what Verizon told me. When the trial period is over you’ll have the opportunity to get the subscription
Interesting. So how did you trigger the "activation" without going to that link in the app? Did you do it in the car? (Or maybe there is just a different link for you in the app that I don't have?)
I wonder if and when this will be available in the UK. Has anybody from the UK reached out to Hyundai for any details?

I turned on the Hotspot, but I also called Bluelink/hyundai and Verizon (no one had a clue about it) but Verizon told me that it could take a week to activate but it was usually activated at time of purchase — I think maybe when I turned it on it pinged the mothership. That was a week ago, this morning I noticed the change in the app, and in the car I got a notice of activation

i will also say that I used that Verizon page to check the IMEI number - NEW CUSTOMER/CONNECTED CAR
