Hi all!

I had to replace the head unit in my 2018 PHEV Limited and because a brand new one from Hyundai is about $3300, I ended up ordering a non-OEM one from AliExpress.

I've managed to get all the functions working other than audio. The rear camera, steering wheel buttons, radio controls, everything else works, but I'm not getting any sound. The speakers work as I still get the welcome and so-long songs through the speakers, but nothing out of the radio or CarPlay. It came with the wiring harness needed and it looks like it's all connected properly, but obviously something is going on.

Does anyone know if this model (with the Infinity sound system) requires a 12V amp turnon signal wire? If it does, where is it? Anyone install their own non-OEM units that might be able to share their experience?

Thanks!

After further troubleshooting, I still have no sound, but I think I'm getting closer.

I'm working on the assumption that I do have an amp and that it requires a 12V turn on signal. I'm not able to find any documentation about the wiring of the PHEV with the Infinity sound system, so I'm trying to splice something together with what I can find.

I was able to find the wiring diagram for a head unit that looks like mine here in these forums, so I went with it (I've included it here). I ended up comparing it with the wiring I already have to see if I had extra pins that weren't included in the diagram. Indeed there were! I have two pins that are unaccounted for: A17 and A18. A white wire and a black wire (pic included here). These pins also do not have a corresponding connection of the new head unit's harness. I can only assume that these are for the amp.

I have one wire coming out of the new unit's harness that is marked "AMP CON" that is putting out about 12V that is not connected to anything and doesn't even include a terminal pin like the other wires. I'm assuming that I got a head unit and harness for a HEV that does not have an Infinity sound system. That doesn't mean it won't work, I just need to figure out how to connect the amp. Also, the seller hasn't responded to my messages, so I may just need to do whatever I can to get this working.

I'm not shy about testing electronics, but I have very little experience with audio with cars, so I'm a little out of my element.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Thanks!

Hi I was trying to replace my existing radio with the new radio which has carplay option. I was successful in connecting all the wires except the reverse signal input and camera. Can you please help me out on this.

Depends on model of your car and the pinout of the head unit you bought. If you have a non-Infinity head unit/Ioniq, the pinout I linked above should help you. You need to make sure the correct wires for camera power/video and ground are connected.

You should reach out to the seller of the unit you bought to confirm the pinouts match.
