Can somebody tell me when should we expect Ioniq Plug-In to be available in USA, Virginia or Maryland specifically? And what will be the starting price for it?
My local dealerships do not know anything, official website says it is still Coming in Fall. If somebody has more information on it, could you please share it?
I have been watching and have heard nothing more definitive. This summer I emailed with the Hyundai USA Marketing Director who said it would be available in Q4. That was a guess months ago which in this world means that was their desire and intent, but not necessarily what will happen. I spoke with a dealer in Colorado a couple weeks ago and their best guess was orderable in December with delivery who knows when.
One thing to recognize is it likely will be stocked at dealerships in a limited number of states. California likely the first. We already know that Colorado will not get any stock. Theoretically one can order it into any state, but that may or may not be true. We won't know until Hyundai releases the plans.
No information on pricing available yet. The best loose estimate you can get is by looking at the cost differences between HEV, PHEV, an EV models in the UK. Their website shows base model HEV at 20,885, PHEV and EV at 24,995. If that holds fairly consistent here in the USA, then you could hypothesize that the PHEV will run about the same as the EV in California. However pricing is different in each country due to market as well as what packages and features are offered. So this is just a starting point for consideration.
This may not be of any help regarding the Ioniq Plug In but I was at a Kia dealer yesterday. The manager told me the Kia Niro Plug In would be available (this is California) in 60-75 days.
I too am in the US and holding out for the PHEV version. If anyone has any knowledge at all, I'd be grateful to know what they've heard too. I've been hoping that it would arrive in showrooms and I could drive away with one by the end of November in 2017. Their website still only says 'coming this fall' with nothing else.
I'm concerned sometimes too because like mtsarpilot said, what if it only is 'orderable' starting in December, and still won't physically arrive until January 2018 or longer? I have been holding out for the PHEV Ioniq instead of the Prius Prime or Chevy Volt, and really need to make the purchase soon.
I see on Green Car Reports they're loosely saying end of the year or even early 2018, which is a big bummer. If anyone knows anything, please feel free to share. Thanks!
We purchased a 2019 Ionic PHEV this past Saturday. Can only find them in Maryland, Georgia and California. Flew from Raleigh, NC to Baltimore, Maryland one way to pick mine up. Salesperson told me this is not uncommon. Someone flew in from Texas to get one.
Had to drive nearly to Chicago to get mine, about 400 miles one-way. Sheer luck, I think, that the dealership had them; apparently the town they're based in (Bloomington/Normal, IL) has well developed charging infrastructure, which apparently persuaded Hyundai USA to slip them a few units each year.
