camera alert and traffic on Sat Nav

after having erratic behaviour with the traffic and camera alerts on my built in sat I spent some time investigating. I'm using a Doopro P1 phone.

findings :-
1 - the WiFi on phone has to be off, otherwise the traffic and camera alerts work until phone is out of range of my Home WiFi
2 - The Bluetooth tethering and portable Wi-Fi hot spot has to be turned on every time the phone is switched on

When using Waze with Android Auto I get a speed limit display which alternates with my speed, when I get near the speed limit, but it switches too fast to be able to visually acquire my speed. Any ideas on how to change the switch speed

No device with a single WiFi radio transmitter/antenna can both be connected to WiFi and broadcast a mobile hotspot at the same time, as far as I know and have experienced. When hotspot is turned on normal WiFi is turned off, and sometimes with a warning about that. Hyundai Access point turns hotspot on, WiFi off, and back, as the car bluetooth connection is either connected or disconnected.

Hotspot is off by default and will not automatically activate after phone is switched on (restarted), on all phones I have tried, at least. because of this, a (start screen) shortcut to the hotspot on/off switch is a recommended, or use Hyundai Access Point (android). But even Hyundai Access Point app has to be restarted after phone is turned on after a restart, unless your phone has a way to autostart it.

A twin sim equipped extra smart phone tahn always stay in the car has been my solution with minimum hassle, but may be overkill for most.

I’m getting the live traffic updates but no notification of speed cameras.

I presume if your receiving one then there’s no reason you shouldn’t receive the other.

Also what’s the yellow dots along the route all about????

And one other , there is no voice command???????

If the Speed camera is active you will see a camera icon on LHS of map display. The yellow dots are "trace" showing where you have been (in case you get lost)

phone also needs to be tethered to a wifi hotspot on you phone (not Bluetooth as that is only used for calls and address book)

so it will use some mobile data from you phone but very little

my understanding is live services (traffic and cameras ) only work over wifi hotspot

you can get some limited data from DAB / FM traffic but it is often out of date (especially traffic)

is you phone set to share data connection over Bluetooth instead of wifi?
