Talking Unexploded bomb

An old WW2 bomb has just been made safe in Kingston SW London. 1500 people were evacuated for a couple of nights and some were offered blow-up beds. (Well it made me smile).

I was a kid in North London in the 1950’s. There were loads of ‘bomb sites’ around. Three or four houses across the road from ours had been bombed out and only the foundations remained, sticking out of the ground like a castle. We played there for years and the site wasn’t redeveloped until 1966.

Yep. They found and un exploded bomb in the soft ground beside the foundations. Just about every kid in the neighbourhood, myself included, had leapt off the ‘ramparts’ hundreds of times, into it!!
