Post Ship Maud has returned

After seven years of planning, rescuing from seabed and towing, vessel "Maud" has finally returned her building site in Oslo Fjord.

The vessel was ordered by polar explorer Roald Amundsen, born in Fredrikstad, 2 miles from my home, and vessel finished in 1917, then used to explore further the Northwest Passage, after he found the way through it in 1903-06, and his expedition got first to the South Pole in 1911.

"Maud" was later sold and sunk in Cambridge Bay in northern Canada and laid at the bottom of the harbour for more than sixty years.

A fantastic achievement by the rescue team, and a beautiful contribution to world history.

My home is Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg twin city, in Lower River Glomma local region, in the very south-east of Norway.
