Fog Lights?

I have a 2017 Ioniq Hybrid SEL (US). I am used to my cars having fog lights, and have had them in my previous cars where I found them quite helpful. But they are not offered in this car by Hyundai. So my question is if anyone knows of an aftermarket kit to add fog lights to this car? Note that I am looking for something that is specifically made to fit this model and not some generic kit that would not look built-in. Thanks for your help.

Not noticed much , if any , difference with the Ioniq driving in fog from my previous cars which were equipped with fog lights . Maybe Hyundai didn't see the need for fog lights as the car is lower to the ground than other cars ?
I think it would be difficult to find fogs that would look built in and they would cause an extra drain on the electrical system ?

When lights (low or high beam) come on, the running led lights are automatically turned off (EUR-NL, any other?). I don't know why this is, because I see lots of other brands of cars with both low-beam and running lights on. I think the running leds would be helpful in foggy circumstances.

Does anyone know a simple tweak to keep the running light on together with low- and high beam?

My last car, a Ford Focus Titanium X, had bi-xenon headlights and fog lights lower down the bumper. When putting the front fog lights on, I could not notice any perceived difference to the lighting on the road. Furthermore, if turning the headlights off and leaving the fog lights on, resulted in not enough light on the road to drive safely. So my question is: do you really need front fog lights? I would suggest not.

I have had front fog lights on all my previous cars and used them maybe once per year. I think the cost and drag weighed against the amount they would be used make them economically unviable. Not to mention the fact they would be so close to the ground if fitted under the valance, it is likely they would be damaged by the first sleeping policeman you encountered!

Fog lights would normally spread a low wide beam and I do miss them out here in Indian territory where fog rolls off the fields in autumn.

That said, the twin LED low beam headlights in the UK models do a fair job on their own. Iím sure they could have tucked some in the DRL housing.

I have never had fog lights in any vehicle I have owned, except for the GMC Sierra pick up truck I own now. I've always thought fog lights were useless and my experience with the GMC has confirmed that. Turning the fog lights on does not increase visibility at all, whether there is fog or not. Admittedly, the truck has very good quality HID low beam headlights, but still.

As others have said, perhaps Hyundai recognized that and did not include them on the Ioniq to keep the weight and cost down.

The other half of the question is 'do you actually need them because of foggy weather?'

As I recall I have never needed to use the ones on my other cars for at least 10 years, but it is obviously dependent on the weather in your area. Of course, a LOT of drivers turn them on when not needed, but there are legal restrictions in the UK on when you can have them on - as found out when the police stopped me for having them on when they were not needed.

I'd like to know this as well, but I do think the DRL are useless in foggy situations. They don't give off a beam of light, just diffuse light. Parked in front of my garage door, I see almost no light reflected from the door when I turn the DRL on (and thus the low beams off).
