Personally I like the look of the Ioniq EV's front end........................which demonstrates that your opinion is as personal as mine and not universal.
I would agree with you they are superfluous on an EV plus they add unnecessary drag but I would forgo the lower MPG for a standard grill
As you so rightly pointed out it is my personal opinion, as I respect yours

To be honest, I don’t think the front end is that bad. Where Hyundai fell down was the one colour fits all approach for their trims.

Grey probably suits some colours better than others and it is personal preference.

I can see the attraction for white on white and it does look good. For my money black on white nails it, that said, going down that route, all the grey has to go and that may be Uber costly and therefore not feasible.

Has anyone thought of vinyl wrapping the grey bits?

Having seen this thread, I've looked at a couple of tutorials on You Tube and I think I might have a go. I'll do a before and after set of photos.

Anyone had any experience of vinyl wrapping?

Volvo have the right idea there new range of electric cars will have the standard grill.

Grills are ugly as ****. Last century. Could as well have been a steam pipe on an old locomotive. Ioniqs with grills are an abdomination and should be wrecked. I cringe everytime I see an Ioniq with a grill. Luckily they are extremely rare compared to the EVs.

The lack of grill is a badge of honor that

c/looks next gen, modern and a tiny bit science ficition.

Agreed that the black front looks slightly better than the grey, but the grey is still miles ahead of ANY 2019 car with a grill. Cars from before 2013 are exused for having a grill. They can’t help it.

To me, seems an easy personalisation option for any car.

Hyundai missed a trick here. They could be charging `options` to owners.

I've just been quoted £100 by a local wrapper to do my front in gloss black. I might just plasti-dip it.

There is nothing “awesome” about 120 miles range and wasting time at “fast” chargers.
